The delicate details along with the strong contrasting colour adds to the overall silhouette and design of this black and white statement piece.
My millinery designs are often inspired by a trim, material, colour or a combination of these elements. For my Lillian Frank AM MBE Millinery Award entry my inspiration began with finding some gorgeous black beaded vintage shoe embellishments from a market. These beaded embellishments became the centre of the white silk flowers which I have hand painted with a black contrasting boarder. Using white pearlised bugle beads I have hand beaded the black leaves to create drama and contrast. With the flowers and the leaves being made utilising material remnants and the use of the vintage beaded embellishments this piece incorporates some sustainable design principles.
